How to get more out of the alerting features

Last year we introduced a powerful Alerting module. This module allows you to create your own rules, which will trigger alerts as Email, SMS or Dashboard alerts.

Some of our users have adopted this module straight away, and they have built a comprehensive set of rules that now do a lot of micromanagement on their behalf. However, some users are probably not aware of how easily and quickly they could start saving their own time.

So to help you get started with using alerts I thought I’d put together some examples. All you need to do is to to open the “Alerts” module under the “Utilities” menu. Then just click “Add Alert”.

Example 1: Alert when CCP is breached

In this example I’ve created a rule that send out an alert if a CCP has been breached in the monitoring module. Achieving this is very easy. You simply need to have a test specified as a CCP, and if that test ever goes outside the specs the alert will be triggered. You can click the picture to enlarge it.

Example 2: Alert if a customer complaint is not being taken care of on time

In this example I created a simple rule that will let the user know if a customer complaint remains open for three days, meaning that it hasn’t been taken care of. This will allow you to direct your focus and contact the right people. This type of rules are immensely useful as they allow you to focus on other other things and the software will let you know if something is not taken care of properly.

Example 3: Alert when you need to review a completed supplier self-assessment

This is a great example in how Safefood 360° will save you time. The situation is that you’ve sent 12 self assessment questionnaires to various suppliers. They will complete the questionnaires in the supplier portal. But you don’t have to log in and check when they have done the job. You can easily create an alert that will notify you when it’s your turn to review the assessment and raise corrective actions. Again, you can use alerts to spare you from the manual effort of checking whether something has been complete or not and just focus on value adding things.
