Event journal: Future in Food, Dublin
Last week our team participated in the Future in Food conference, which took place in Dublin. This was the first major event in Ireland wholly dedicated to sustainability in the food sector. The event attracted nearly 200 people from exhibiting companies and the senior management of Irish food companies.
The event was opened by the Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine – Simon Coveney – who highlighted the necessity of producing food in a more sustainable fashion. On the other hand Minister Coveney underlined the importance of implementing sustainable practices without compromising economic growth. This theme of balancing between sustainable food production and profitability was present in most talks throughout the day. Another major topic was Origin Green, which is a sustainability development program set up by the Irish Food Board, Bord Bia.
Following the conference, we at Safefood 360 have also published our company sustainability page, which highlights our approach to responsible business. We have identified three major drivers of our environmental impact, and this page will detail how we mitigate the environmental impact of our business.
We met many interesting people throughout the event, and we’d like to thank you for all the interesting discussions. We certainly look forward to coming back next year!
